How to Setup Custom Domain on Blogger Blogs

Want to give your blogspot or blogger blog little more authority and professional touch by using a custom domain like “yourblogname.com”. Well! It’s very easy to do. The following tutorial takes you through all the necessary steps for hosting your blogger blog on a custom domain.

STEP 1: Buy a Custom Domain for Your Blogger Blog

First of all you will have to buy a domain name from an authorized domain registrar. There are some established and famous ones like: GoDaddy, BigRock etc. Sign up with one of these services and buy a domain name.

STEP 2: Configure Your DNS Settings

In this step, it is assumed that you have already purchased a domain name from a domain registrar. In order to point your custom domain to your blogger blog, you need to configure your DNS settings. DNS Stands for Domain Name System that gives your site address a unique name. This can be configured from the dashboard of your account with the domain registrar from whom you have already bought your unique domain name.

Go to the control panel in your domain name registrar’s website and select the option for DNS settings. Now you can find an option to enter your CNAME records.

When asked for NAME, Enter: www

When asked for HOST NAME, Enter: ghs.google.com

Entering your A-Records

Enter your domain name in the format: example.com and create four A-records using the four different Google IPs listed below

STEP 3: Configuring Your Blogger Settings

Before getting started with this step, you have to wait for about an hour so that your DNS settings get activated. Now you have to go to Blogger Dashboard>>Settings>>Basic>>Publishing. Now click the link to add a custom domain.

Now click on “Switch to Advanced Settings”



Enter your custom domain in the text field provided and then click SAVE. Now your blogger blog will soon start redirecting to your custom domain. It might take up to 24 hours for the settings to be activated and to start redirecting your blog to your custom domain.



Now you are all set to GO. Your blogger blog will soon start running on your custom domain.Happy Blogging !!
